Shooting plan
Shooting plan
After all
the research came the time to bring it all in to implementation. For that I
need to make a plan. All the characters and the place where I needed to shoot
was clear to me, I had decided to use my Fathers students from another school
as my models and his school basement became my studio, I planned to assemble
them at the school as it was the nearest to them. There I would set up my
studio, I have planned to use a white cloth for my background as I planned to
add the background afterwards to my image in Photoshop. I estimated a budget of
RS 30000, keeping in mind that I had my own camera and studio lights so they
were not an expense to me. I had to arrange all the costumes and accessories
and then we all had to gather at one place for the shoot to take place. We
finalized a date that suited everyone, the makeup artists were arranged from
the school, They were the teachers at my father’s school. When all was planned
now the final implementation could take place.

Preliminary Exercise (School magazine)
This is the main cover of my school magazine. The cover displays a student performing in an inter school basketball competition this image reflects the theme of this issue of the magazine which is sports. In the background the spectators are shown who are the audience for the match. The cover story "A star is born in Algc" is used to convey a message that the students of Algc are the stars of tomorrow, Like the famous basketball player "Anthony Parker"
This is the content page. There are three main headings and further subheading stating the background of the school,The events and the contact information of the school. Images of various events like elections for the school council and the welcome party for the new A1 etc. The background is kept plain white and a strip for the title stating content is placed at the top.

Research Report
Research Report
With almost a month gone my research
regarding renowned music magazines have met its conclusion. My research deduced
many valuable results that would defiantly aid me in the construction of my own
magazine. With the result of interviews and questionnaires I came to a
conclusion that the main audience (Target audience) that are interested in this
type of music are mainly ranging from the age of 18 to 40 years. The genre I
selected is heavy metal because it is becoming an increasingly popular choice
of the new generation. Regarding the source of marketing I have decided that
for my magazine the best methods of advertising would be flyers and brochures
that I would display on most visited book shops that serve the same type of
magazines, Also another scheme is online adds on famous metal music websites.
Now that the marketing is decided upon the next question is distribution
process for that as my questionnaires concluded the best and most convenient
methods are Retail shops and online theses will be my sources of distribution.
More or less all magazine offer a free giveaway with their issues same would be
my case I would be offering a Compact disk (CD) featuring an album of the band
that is emerging on my magazine. There after my magazine is fully planned and
is ready to be produced this is my very next task now that I am done with the
research and selection of the most suited methods for me.

Reason for choosing Print brief
I had shot listed two option movie and magazine from which i
finally decided to go for the print brief. The basic reason for this choice is
that i am much more interested in still photography than movie production. I do
photography as a hobby and thus have the basic knowledge of working on this
art. Another very big reason for this selection was the fact that people were
willing to be models for the shoot but very few were actually comfortable with
the movie part where they hesitated about dialogue delivery and camera consciousness.
I also plan on continuing in the field of print media in my further career path
hence this would be a chance to get the first exposure, The genre that i
selected was black heavy metal for the very reason that i myself am a fan of it
and thus it will be easier for me to work with it regarding the getup and
nature of the theme implemented on my models and producing my own magazine pages.
Print Brief
The print brief includes two task
1) Preliminary Task: The construction of two pages of a school magazine for the preliminary task which include the cover and the content page for the cover page a medium closeup shot is to be used as the main image and the content page should include all that is published in the magazine.
2) Main Task: secondly the construction of three pages of a music magazine on the genre of our choice for the main task , after finalizing the type of music the next step would be the development of the pages one by one. The three pages include

- Main cover page
- Content page
- Double fold spread page
For this purpose we are required to conduct our own photography shoot and all the images need to be authentic and self taken, and the using an editing software (Photoshop in our case) we are required to construct our pages using all the learned conventions. The main page will include a cover story and sub stories that are published in the magazine also the masthead etc. Secondly the contents of the second pages needed to be decided and it all needs to be self created and authentic. The last page which is our double fold spread which comes in the center of the magazine and is as the name implies two pages spread throughout which will contain related context

Media Studies….What got me here???
Hello my name is Amna Qaiser. I am a A level
first year student from Beacon house Algc. My reasons for opting for Media
studies in A levels firstly was the
growing influence of media on our society and the much needed interaction
between people that the media creates. By media I not just mean the visual
media but parallel to that the rapidly growing social media. Furthermore I had
decided to craft my career in media studies for which I made a combination of
Business studies, Media studies and Applied ICT all of which seemingly had a
benefit for me in this field in future. More over our family background stating
my father as being a professional Photographer encouraged me to carry this
tradition further ahead. Media is no less that art and my passion for art and
willingness to do things creatively pushed me into this area. Concluding my
introduction I would like to say that our country is much in need of people
that can benefit our media sector to promote a positive image of Pakistan
worldwide
